Ivorian artist selected for the MASA IN with his band named Boom Boom Africa, Oren’tchy opened to us. He talks about what he proposed during his singing tour, his training and the rest of his career. Let’s read.
You performed on the scenes of the 10th edition of the MASA as part of the MASA IN. What is your feeling of being able to take part in this great event of the performing arts in Africa?
There is a long love affair between the MASA and I since its creation in 1993. I was a student and participated in most professional meetings, attended shows to train myself for the artist I aspired to be. Today, I participate as a confirmed artist and it’s a real pleasure.
I presented a new show of my new orchestra Oren’tchy & Boom Boom Africa. It is a traditionally-inspired orchestra based on the Abondan, a folk rhythm of south-east Côte d’Ivoire, enriched with new sounds from instruments of various African cultures, to which sounds of music have been added, as well as cooking utensils to give the New Age Abodan. Rhythmic and choreographed show, this show will seduce you for sure.
What will you do with this training after the MASA ?
After the MASA, the orchestra will begin a national tour for the people to better appreciate this rhythm, before the international tour scheduled for next summer.
What are you currently up to musically speaking ?
We are currently deploying all the means for a promotion and an assured extension of the Oren’tchy & Boom Boom Africa.
When will you release your next work ?
The next work will be that of the Oren’tchy & Boom Boom Africa record just after the national tour.
