The 10th edition of The Market for Abidjan Performing Arts (MASA) was held from March 10 to 17, 2018. This meeting is a must-attend event for all actors in the performing arts. The Cameroonian Agathe Djokam was selected for the MASA Market 2018. For this first major release, she presented a creation dating from 2015 entitled « Energy ». A solo performance during which the dancer expresses the difficulties and trials of life. She describes her passion, commitment and determination to move forward.
MASA 2018, the place of possibilities
Her performance will go well beyond her expectations since at the end of the MASA, Agathe Djokam will multiply the representations worthy representative of Cameroon.In fact, between May and June 2018, Agathe Djokam presented her show « Energy » At Ateliers Frappaz in France. This performance was able to take place thanks to the invitation of Mrs Nadège and Mr Patrice Papelard who spotted the dancer during the MASA.
She also directed a residency at the Choreographic Center Pôle Pik of Mourad Merzouki in Brön. This residency was the opportunity to work on her new project of solo dance entitled « Who’s around? « . She presented her solo dance project « Whose turn? At the French Institute of Cameroon (IFC) in Douala, in June 2018 and at the JULIDANS International Festival in Amsterdam, in July 2018. In August 2018, Agathe Djokam received the prize of the best dancer of the year at the Battle National Cameroon. She also participated in the International She’s On Fire Festival in Benin and is vice-champion. In September 2018, she took part in the project « MANOKA EXPRESS » of the director Martin Ambara. As a choreographer and dancer, she performs with the dancer choreographer Bertrand Yakana, an artistic performance. In September 2018, she made a solo performance on the project « Regards Croisés » by Barthelemy Toguo and Soly Cissé, at IFC Douala.

. Participation in the Souar Souar Festival in Chad as a dancer and performer in Nathalie Mangwa’s ANGELAS dance project ;
. Presentation of the solo dance project « Whose turn ? At the Dialogues de Corps Festival in Burkina Faso.
January 2019
Agathe Djokam is selected for the FARI FONI WAATI 2019 in Mali. She will represent her country Cameroon.
What to know about Agathe Djokam
Born on October 8, 1990 in Mbalmayo, Agathe Djokam lives in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon. After graduating from the Douala College du Soleil, she spent 2 years in the DSEP cycle in nursing. She is very passionate about dancing. She enrolled in urban dance competitions and won the « Challenge Vacances » competition in 2013 in the Only Girl section. The stage experiments are multiplying.
In 2014, Agathe Djokam is the Best Dancer of the Year at the Urban Zone Contest. The same year, she won Hip Hop at a competition organized by the Cameroonian Federation of Sports and Related Dances (Fécadansa). But it will make the difference during the event called « Nuit Blanche » held at the French Institute of Douala in October 2014. Internationally, Agathe Djokam is the winner of the Trace Training 2018 in Benin. She is also the champion at the Battle Noel Hip Hop in Afro dance (All Style) in Bamako, Mali.
With her technique called Djibi-Badjeb, Agathe Djokam expresses herself through her movements. A body expression that calls for awareness, change.
In 2017, the artist creates « Who’s around? « , A dance solo. She puts together the group pieces « F.ARMERS » (2017), « REPEAT », « We move », « Forced Eviction » in 2016. Through collaborations, she puts her touch in « Angelas » and « Equality » in 2015. Each piece is a commitment, it explains it in particular in these words: « I believe and know that dance, such in me, can inculcate positive and constructive values »
The founder of the company Agathe Djokam and the association Corpo Symbiose graduated in traditional and contemporary dance from Africa at the Ecole des Sables in Senegal. She is also a member of the International Dance Council (IDC).
